Special Interest: Mentoring and Counseling

Regular price $35.00

Many child, youth and vulnerable adult serving organizations now offer some type of mentoring and/or counseling services. Can we offer one-on-one or group counseling, mentoring or support services under Plan to Protect®? Where should we meet? Are we covered under our insurance? What type of training should we have? What type of documentation should we keep? How do we maintain confidentiality but still follow Plan to Protect® policies? Are we safe? Are they safe? Let’s Plan to Protect®!

This training is designed for volunteers or staff offering mentoring/counseling services and the program leaders/supervisors who oversee them. We will address potential risks associated with mentoring and counseling activities and how to prevent them. Melodie Bissell, the President and CEO of Plan to Protect®, will discuss how we can protect the children, youth or vulnerable adults we are working with and how we can protect ourselves in these situations. We will cover ethics in counseling, specific age related issues, and how to respond and intervene in a crisis. Let’s raise the bar on protection!
