According to the World Health Organization, “one in four people in the world will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives. Around 450 million people currently suffer from such conditions, placing mental disorders among the leading causes of ill-health and disabilities worldwide. Treatments are available, but nearly two-thirds of people with a known mental disorder never seek help…” Are people with mental health concerns at higher risk of abuse or harm? This webinar is designed to raise awareness of the vulnerability of individuals struggling with mental health concerns and to reduce the stigma of discrimination and neglect. This webinar is designed for all organizations who work with the vulnerable sector. Victoria Bissell, OCT. Director of Training at Plan to Protect®, will share her personal story of struggling with Agoraphobia and share how organizations can protect those with mental health concerns. We will provide practical tips for supporting, counseling and mentoring individuals and strategies for creating a safe environment. We will also address suicide and self-injury prevention and response. Let’s raise the bar on protection!
